PITTSBURGH – Kim Tillotson Fleming, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pittsburgh-based investment advisory and financial planning firm Hefren-Tillotson, Inc., has been named a 2016 Women of Distinction recipient by the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America.
The Women of Distinction Awards were established to celebrate the achievements and contributions of leading women in Southwest Pennsylvania while raising mission critical funding and awareness about Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis. In Western Pennsylvania alone, the daily lives of 28,000 children and adults are impacted by these diseases.
In addition to Fleming, Dr. Esther Barazzone, President of Chatham University, and Doris Carson Williams, President and CEO of the African American Chamber of Commerce, also received the award.
Fleming served as President of Hefren-Tillotson since 1996, and in December 2010, was elected Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. A graduate of Northwestern University with a degree in Economics, Fleming is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder and a graduate and Board Member of the Securities Industry Institute at the University of Pennsylvania.
Fleming serves on the boards of Allegheny College, Allegheny Conference on Community Development (Treasurer), The Buhl Foundation, Dollar Bank, EQT GP Holdings, The Pittsburgh Foundation, and SIFMA. Additionally, she has served on the capital campaign committees for the Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, and Children’s Hospital. She is also a deacon and youth leader at Hiland Presbyterian Church.
Fleming has received other community honors including being named Chairperson of the United Way of Allegheny County’s 2013 Campaign and Co-Chairman of the United Way Women’s Leadership Council in 2008 and 2007. In 2011 and 2004, she was named an Athena Award finalist and received the 2005 YWCA “A Tribute to Women Leadership” award for business.
In 2015, Fleming was selected by the Governor as a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania for extraordinary service and contributions to the Commonwealth and she was named the Family Guidance Leckie Award Honoree for her years of philanthropy and service to Pittsburgh. Fleming has also been awarded the John McGrady Award for community service, the Haller Enterprise Institutes Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Thiel College, and the Carlow University Women of Spirit Award for Values, which recognizes a woman who leads her company to higher realms of excellence and service by personal example and commitment to others.
